La Petite Pentanque at the Alexandra Bowling Green Pavilion, Cambridge Road, Southend. At this delightful 1920’s Bowling Green in Southend’s conservation area, you will find a  French style eating house. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, coffee and cakes. In the Summer Southend visitors can enjoy tea on the lawn, snoozing in stripy deckchairs, remembrance of times gone by. Still used by the local bowling club you can enjoy watching a game of bowls, while sipping a cup of tea or glass of wine. Open daily until 7.00 pm in the Summer.

Just along Southend Seafront heading towards Thorpe Bay is The Rendezvous Casino, if you fancy a good night out. The Rendezvous is on Eastern Esplanade, Southend, next to the Kursaal. No need to join, entry is free.....The Fahrenheit Bar is very chic with a host of live entertainers. Dance floor to boogie on down or relaxing sofa areas to just sit and chill. Elements Restaurant has lovely stylish décor with an attractive menu for that special night out...Open 7pm till 11.30 pm. Try the Fahrenheit Bistro for casual eating. Early Bird menu 5pm till 7pm, the Bistro is open till 11 30 pm. All of these facilities overlook the casino, where if you wish, you can try your luck on the roulette tables.

The Railway Hotel, is on the edge of the conservation area on Clifftown Road, Southend. This lovely Victorian pub was built in 1870. Open every evening, and 12 to late on Friday and Saturday. Famous for its live music it boasts an original 1960,s Cocktail Bar, serving house cocktails Vodka martinis, shaken not stirred with flair. Good day to chill is a Sunday, enjoy a good old fashioned roast, while seated by a log fire (out of Summer) entertained by a classical pianist. Fast becoming a great jazz venue early Sunday evening.
