I have bee staying at the Gleneagles Hotel when I visit Essex on business for the last 6 years. I find the hotel to be very comfortable. The rooms are well appointed and it is clear that Deborah spends each year on maintenance and improvements to the hotel. The Glenaeagles sits in a wonderful location and it is very pleasant just to stroll around the conservation area appreciating the order of the buildings. And finally, I must mention the food - breakfast at the Gleneagles Hotel is always a tasty treat. I have stayed in a number of different hotels in Southend over recent years and can honestly say that I have not found one to beat the Gleneagles for comfort and value for money.

We were recommended to stay at the Gleneagles by a friend who stayed here last summer. We wanted a weekend break away, on the coast but not too far away from home. We left the car at home and took the train into Southend. We found that everything we needed for our mini break was on hand from the hotel. The stroll up the promenade is very pleasant in both directions and we didn’t miss having the car. If you are walkers, we could recommend the walk to Leigh-on-Sea. It’s a very pleasant well conserved area and the pubs on the sea front are definitely worth a visit. We also found that we didn’t really need to walk far from the hotel to find pleasant restaurants and pubs with real beer.
